I hate being the woman waiting for the husband
to come home from the pub
I stereotype her implicitly as I type her
The stereo silent in the background
but in fact I am her waiting in silence
boring of boredom, tiring of tiredness
others like me are out there now
who have come home and found no man
Disappointment, the undecided phrase
disappointment, the head turned to the side
disappointment, turned half-heartedly to hide.
A possibility of tears in the afternoon
the days becoming shorter again,
after a blissful period of length.
Therefore I sit before my typewriter
I've left my creations on the desk for him, like dead mice
He may show no more interest than if they were.

(speaks) I'm not leaving this on the desk for him to scorn. I’m taking it to the streets!
